Good grief - almost half of 2012 is already gone! It's a good thing I seldom write a check anymore; no doubt I'd still be dating them 2011, or even earlier. Actually, Lee's been keeping the family books from the beginning. Good thing; she's much better at it than I!

Maybe like you, I periodically wander the net looking for interesting "new" sites - new to me, anyway. I think I should share this one with you with a cautionary note. It's called CatsnCats.com and, while I'm making no accusations, it just doesn't feel right.

They don't identify themselves anywhere I could find, and that makes me uncomfortable immediately. They have no Terms of Service or Use, no Privacy Policy, none of the legalities, no FAQs. They are carrying Google ads, so it appears to be a for-profit site (nothing wrong with profit!).

They've collected photos of cats from all over the Internet, branded them with their logo - which I feel certain they have no legal right to do, and they invite visitors to comment on the photo, send it to a friend, or send it as an e-card.

I don't know if they're charging a fee for the e-cards, or just collecting names and email addresses for some later marketing effort. I'm sure not a lawyer, but if they're charging a fee for the e-cards, or any use of photos they don't own, they are in clear violation of the copyright laws.

SO, my unsolicited advice is to proceed with caution, if at all. I, for one, don't trust them.

Happily, I just received Helen Chapman's new book: Adventures of a Crazy Cat Lady. I'm looking forward to reading it and will offer my review next issue.
