DEAR DIARY, Belle was the Cover Kitty for Catnip Chronicles in January and ever since then, you’d think that the sun rises and sets because of her. OK, I’m jealous. I admit it. I’ve been so upset that I marched right in and confronted her. I was going to jump on her and beat her up, but she looked at me with those big eyes and told me how lucky she was to have a big brother like me. I ended up grooming her. I can’t win. Diary, I’ve had to spend some time up high, because of Holly, The Evil One. Mom says that she chases me, because I run, but I’m not a fighter. I prefer to sit up high and watch what’s going on. For some reason, Holly, The Evil One, doesn’t climb, so I’m safe up high. I’m not afraid of Holly. I just don’t want to be in the middle of a confrontation. Diary, I’ve been helping Mom with her crossword puzzles. I help her hold the pen and make sure that the newspaper is at the right angle. Mom loves me to help her. She says, “Davey Jones, how could I do this without you?” I have a basket where I sleep sometimes. It is very cozy and comfortable. I think that I’ll go there and take a nap. Diary, I hope that everyone stays warm. I think that spring is coming soon. Then lots of birds come back to visit us. I like that.
I’ll see you next month. Happy Valentine’s Day, if you celebrate. If you don’t, then have a great February.

It’s me again, Davey Jones. I am really upset. Mom says that my nose is out of joint, but I looked in the mirror and my nose looks OK to me. My problem is my sister, Belle. Everything is: Beautiful Belle, Isn’t she adorable, Belle this, Belle that, Belle-Belle-Belle. I’m sick of hearing about Belle.
I’ve been spending a lot of time curled up with Mom. Part of it is because of the weather. We’ve had some really cold weather and snow. Also, Mom likes to read in the afternoon, so I get to snuggle while she curls up with a book.
Aunty Susan isn’t as pleased when I help her with her number puzzles and her knitting. I don’t understand that. Maybe it’s because I grabbed the yarn ball and batted it around the room. I was only trying to be helpful.
Davey Jones (Davey with an e because I'm not a Monkee)
